Are You Using Email Marketing? Here’s How

E-mail marketing is not a very popular topic. However, if you strive to learn more about email marketing, you’ll soon appreciate just how effective it can be.

Personalize your emails wherever possible. When you are seen as a person, as opposed to a generic email, your customers will respond with their business. As an example, include the reason why they are getting emails from your business in your marketing materials you send to them.

All emails should be proofread before they are sent out. Every single email and newsletter must be perfect. Before sending out messages, make sure the email layout is easy to use as well as nice to look at. If you have put any links in your emails, make sure they are able to be clicked.

Continue learning about marketing via email techniques through all the resources available to you. Search online for information, or check out books from the library. You should also try to attend local e-mail marketing classes and workshops.

Test out variations of what you want to use on your subject line by using A/B testing. For a single email, split your mailing list in half randomly, with each half receiving messages that have different subjects. You can learn which subject wording is most influential in getting your customer base to open your messages.

Do not generally waste your time, or resources, sending out important email marketing around major holidays. Because people are not checking email as frequently around these times, your email is more likely to be ignored. There are exceptions, of course. These could include Black Friday emails or emails related to other specific events.

Avoid using too many graphics in your marketing newsletters. Some email programs may block graphics, so if your email is heavily dependent on pictures some of your audience won’t be able to read your email. Additionally, your email is more likely to end up in a junk mail folder should graphics be overused.

There is no excuse for not getting permission, before sending emails to customers. If you are not authorized to send them email, your customers will quickly lose faith in your business, which ends up giving your company a bad name. You may also find yourself blacklisted by some ISPs, making even bigger problems for the campaign and business.

Provide your customers with an incentive in your emails. Customers are more likely to buy your products if you make it tempting to do so. You could give them free shipping if they follow the link in the newsletter and buy more than $50 worth of your products.

Don’t send emails that require images to present information. A lot of email clients will block images right away. If your messages heavily rely on images, this could cause them to appear unappealing, or even completely unreadable. The most important information needs to be in the email’s main text. If you must use images, be sure they have useful alt tags.

Hopefully, you can now see the many ways marketing via email can work to your advantage. So, go ahead and add all that you learned today and you should see some type of improvement with your site’s popularity before you know it.
